Noah and The Whale - "The First Day of Spring"

Noah and The Whales latest album debuted in late August 2009. I myself am getting the first listen of it right now and I can say it's fantastic. The tracks "Blue Skies" and "Our Window" are both catchy and moving. Great group of musicians.

Vampire Weekend - "Contra" Album Review

Without a doubt I had to purchase this album when it was released. I wasn't to impressed with their previous work. I thought for sure this was their redeeming album. I was very eager to give it a listen for the first time. Just like I do for every new album I purchase I skip over each track listening to maybe 10 sec. of each one.

Their single "Cousins" is what really got me hyped about the whole album. It's an upbeat catchy melody song that keeps you humming. I felt like VM gave me the American Arctic monkeys after skimming over some of the tracks. Everyone always has those 3 songs from every album that are there favorites. To be honest with you I couldn't find two. The album felt like it had a huge hole in it and I couldn't fill it in. It was like a movie that shows all the good previews but the movie holds not attention at all.

Bottom line, The album couldn't hold my attention. Yes, the single "cousins" still remains my favorite track, and the only one. I was a little disappointed in the album itself, but I still have high hopes for the band. At least there still putting out albums and playing shows.
